Active Deterrent
Thermal cameras + security fog — stop the crime before it happens, keep the food hot before the review hits
Our Active Deterrent product line pairs thermal imaging with security fog generators and ASI 360 agent logic. Used together, they stop smash-and-grab theft in jewelry, electronics, and high-value retail. Used independently, thermal cameras drive a separate line of business for restaurants: real-time food-temperature monitoring that alerts staff before a cold-food complaint becomes a 2-star Yelp review.
Security Fog Generator
Fills a 1,500 sq ft retail floor with dense visual fog in under 25 seconds. Thieves cannot see what they came to steal, cannot see each other, cannot find the exit. Within 90 seconds the average smash-and-grab operator leaves empty-handed.
Spec: trigger via panic button, motion+intrusion fusion, or manual remote. Non-toxic glycol-based fog (food-safe, machine-safe). Cleans up in 30-60 minutes with no residue. Compliant with NFPA 13 and local fire codes when properly installed.
Thermal Imaging Cameras
Long-wave infrared (LWIR) cameras that see heat signatures, not visible light. Two product roles:
Security: the only way to see through security fog. Once your fog deploys, your security team sees thieves clearly while thieves see nothing. Also: perimeter person-detection in zero-visibility (rain, darkness, smoke).
Food service: watches food line, hot well, walk-in cooler. Alerts staff in seconds if temperature drops below food-safety threshold. Prevents both cold-food complaints and health-code violations.
Restaurant use case
Stop bad Yelp reviews before they get typed
Cold food is one of the top three drivers of negative restaurant reviews. Operators can't inspect every plate. Staff is busy. The complaint reaches the customer before it reaches the kitchen.
One avoided cold-food incident a week is worth more than the system costs.
A single 2-star Yelp review can cost a restaurant 5-10 walk-in customers over its lifetime — at typical Bay Area ticket sizes, $300-$700 per review. Most operators we work with see 4-8 cold-food complaints per month they could have prevented. Avoiding even half of those covers the thermal-camera install inside 90 days.
Add the health-code trail (continuous temperature logs documenting compliance) and you have a defense against the once-in-five-years inspector visit that wipes out a Saturday night.
$300-$700
Estimated lifetime cost of one avoidable 2-star review. Most operators see 4-8/month that thermal monitoring would catch.
High-value retail use case
How active deterrent stops smash-and-grab
Jewelry, electronics, luxury goods — the categories smash-and-grab crews target — have one shared problem: the police response time is 6-15 minutes and the crew is out in 90 seconds. Passive cameras record the theft. They don't prevent it.
Trigger
Panic button, motion fusion (forced-entry signature), or remote dispatch. Choose policy per location.
Fog deploys
Room fills with dense visual fog in under 25 seconds. Thieves lose orientation immediately.
Thermal sees through
Your security feed switches to thermal automatically. You see them clearly. They see nothing.
They leave
Most crews abandon within 90 seconds — usually empty-handed. Owner gets the full thermal-camera record for the police report.
Hardware tiers
Scope to the room you need to protect (or the kitchen you need to monitor)
Inside the stack
Active Deterrent isn't a standalone — it bridges into the rest of ASI 360
Sentinel
Edge device runs the thermal + motion fusion locally. Raw video never leaves your premises.
Security Agent
Watches the feed, classifies events, triggers fog, calls owner on real escalations only.
